Hauling ticket checklist
Eight groups of information to review before a load reaches billing.
Read the guideA digital record should help the office understand the work behind the bill. Explore the ticket workflow in SHIFT and define the records your operation needs.
Digital truck tickets record the details of a hauling load electronically. Depending on the operation, the record may include a source ticket, material and quantity, truck reference, delivery information, and supporting notes. The important distinction is whether those details are connected to the correct job and available for review.
A ticket image can preserve the original document while still leaving the office to identify the job, truck, material, or unit. Connect the supporting document to a load reference and review its details before billing. A repeated ticket number may indicate a duplicate, but ticket numbers from different sources can also coincide; review the source and date as well.
Check missing attachments, mismatched units, unclear product descriptions, changes to the delivery site, and multiple copies of the same source ticket. Set a person responsible for exceptions. Define how corrections are recorded and which version the office uses. Ask the SHIFT team to demonstrate the available ticket workflow against your own sample.
The Federal Highway Administration describes e-ticketing as an electronic exchange of materials information that supports project documentation and review. A website demonstration does not establish acceptance on a public project. Check the specific contract, data fields, exchange method, and acceptance process with the project team.

No. The ticket needs to be matched to the correct job, reviewed for exceptions, and checked against the agreed billing basis.

Use the savings calculator with your own paper-handling time and the time the digital workflow still requires. Its result is capacity value, not guaranteed cash savings.
